Reader To Rider Interview: Burton Girls
When it comes to being a well-rounded rider, she has it on lock — she’s respected for her riding by men and women alike, and is a standout in the park just as much as she’s known to slay it in the backcountry. On top of being an amazing snowboarder, Kimmy is a kind, giving and incredibly smart individual that we could all learn a thing or two from, and as a Burton Girls reader I’m honored to have had the opportunity to get to know her better.- Chelsea Waddell

White Noise: Snowboarder Magazine
Kimmy Fasani is one of the most dominant female riders that snowboarding has ever seen. Much like her elders, Fasani learned how to travel in backcountry terrain safely while picking up other essential tidbits of info, like building jumps. The only difference is that Kimmy’s off-piste sisters didn’t have the luxury of learning from a legend like Devun Walsh, and this has given Fasani quite the advantage and has aided exponentially in her rise to fame. Currently laid up with a knee injury, Kimmy is healing fast and will be ready to ride in no time. We’re sure she’s gonna come back stronger than ever, and we thought she’d be a perfect fit to take some of her downtime to clue us in on her favorite music picks in this White Noise. – T.Bird (To see all Kimmy’s top picks for music click the photo above)

Kimmy Fasani has been on quite a ride these past few years. She continues to push boundaries in women’s snowboarding and has helped the sport to progress with her landmark achievements. She began 2012 on a high-note, becoming one of only five women ever to score the Transworld Snowboarding cover. Kimmy Fasani – Behind the 2012 Burton AK Team Shoot Out Cover
“It’s been five years since the last lady graced a TransWorld cover (Hana Beaman, September 2007) and there’s no doubt Kimmy Fasani here is deserving, what with her double backflips and progressive backcountry riding. For Team Shoot Out, Kimmy joined the legendary crew of Terje Haakonsen, Jeremy Jones, Jussi Oksanen and Stephan Maurer for 10 days filming in the Whistler backcountry. Conditions ranged from unseasonably warm sun to rain and haze but the team stayed on the grind, hitting everything from high-alpine booters to trailside tree hits to make it happen. Kimmy held her own and planted this trunk proper.” TWS Staff

Snowboarder Magazine Dispatch: A Powder Panic to Japan
“On December 27th Kelly Clark and myself, Kimmy Fasani, pushed the panic button and made a last minute decision to go find winter. Kelly, who has won 12 consecutive halfpipe contests, would normally be committed to comps however with the shifting of schedules and lack of snow, she ended up with a 10 day window to make a powder trip happen. I had been laying low, riding park in Mammoth for the past 2 months and was eager to get back in the white room. ” To read more and see our photo gallery click the photo above.

“When Kimmy Fasani was offered the chance to film full-time this season, that famous perma-smile might have widened just a touch, but she didn’t waste a minute. The truck was readied, the sled was loaded, and the dial pointed North in no time at all, leading the Mammoth local on a beeline towards Whistler, BC. But this wasn’t your normal crew she was about to join—this was Devun Walsh and Iikka Backström. Nor was this going to be the generic, short-term backcountry commitment to split up the annual riding cycle. Digging in her heels, Whistler was now home for the duration.” (AH) Read More by clicking the photo above.

SNOWBOARD Magazine Personalities Interview
For this installment of Personalities, we talk with Mammoth local and DC pro Kimmy Fasani. Kimmy has already been on fire this season, landing a double backflip on a 50 foot booter in the backcountry last week, during a trip that will be a feature story in the magazine this fall. Instead of giving herself props for landing the double, Kimmy was adamant about thanking the crew for supporting her and giving her the inspiration to try it. That’s just the girl Kimmy is. She’s sweet and sincere and will never pat herself on the back. Deciding to put contests aside for the year and focus on filming for Standard’s TB20, Kimmy is soon headed to Whistler for a month to ride with fellow DC teammates Devun Walsh and Iikka Backstrom. Kimmy stays busy when she’s not on the snow, planning her wedding in September to pro-skier Chris Benchetler, taking care of her pride and joy, little pup Reese and cooking when she’s home. “We couldn’t be more proud of Kimmy and excited for this historic moment in snowboarding,” said Jeff Taylor, DC’s VP of Global Marketing. “It’s great to be supporting a female athlete who is pushing the progression of women’s snowboarding.”
Pleasure Magazine 2011 Girls Issue: 9 Page Interview wtih Hana and Leanne
“The last time we caught up with Kimmy Fasani, she was flying high. As in, ripping it slopestyle, like a little birdie with a gnarly set of DC sponsored wings and a film crew to capture every fall from the nest. Lucky for her, this Taurus always lands on her feet. Nowadays, it’s a bit more of the same, although Fasani’s finding more time to play it low-key. And by low-key, she means more filming – in Alaska. No biggie.” Cayce Hill Click the photo to read the full article. (Photo Colin Adair

NOlympics for Kimmy Fasani: On Fuel
“Kimmy Fasani is the kind of rider that up and comers are jealous of. She works hard, and puts out video parts in the style of snowboarding’s best jump/jib pros; just watch Stance to see. It’s no wonder she’s one of three females in the world to be on the DC team; riding the Mammoth Mountain resort and the Lake Tahoe backcountry is the reason why. She’s living the dream, and was invited to work with Standard Films this season; so be on the lookout for her next stream of exposure. …ams take notice. Until Kimmy leaves the core media spotlight, and learns to like the tournament circuit, there will be NOlympics for her.” -Robbie Sell.
Hump Day Hits Kimmy Fasani: Yo Beat
Growing up in Truckee, CA, Kimmy Fasani had nothing better to do than hang with the dudes and huck backflips. A few hundred backflips later and Kimmy had three USASA National titles under her belt, she’d been on Burton, she’d been dropped by Burton, and she’d been picked up by DC. After landing a section in the all-girl film Stance, this season Kimmy is competing in the Dew Tour, is about to give X Games a shot, and is officially filming with Standard Films. As she was trying to rest in the DC Mountain Lab, surrounded by boys watching porno, Yobeat decided to make things worse by asking one of snowboarding’s sweetest ladies the tough questions.

Reno News: Pursuing Higher Education
Success On And Off The Slopes: Local Snowboarder Pursues Higher Education- More Americans are now turning to higher education to survive tough economic times, including one professional athlete from Truckee. 24-year-old Kimmy Fasani is a professional snowboarder who has traveled around the world to compete in her beloved sport. But for many years her other goal was to become a college graduate. “I want to be able to make the choice, ‘okay, if I’m really hurting, I can’t do this much longer’ what do I have to fall back on?” So one day while surfing the internet, she found an ad for a University of Phoenix online degree. She applied and less than two years later, she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing. Since then she has convinced other athletes that online education is possible even with a demanding career. “They have always seen it as something not feasible because we travel so much but if they make it a priority, this is something they can attain.” UNOP Campus Director Kathy Gamboa said online classes have gained popularity over the past few years, and she’s not surprised professional athletes are taking interest. “They have such great discipline and it’s great for them to take advantage of a program they can pursue while enjoying other things they love.” Fasani is back at work, snowboarding around the world. She plans to one day pursue a career in marketing and advertising and motivate other female athletes to go after their dreams.
Ms. Superpark 2009: Snowboarder Magazine
“Day Two here at Ms. Superpark 5 started a little on the slow side. As the ladies showed up, the wind was whipping across the ridge most the features are situated on. It takes a true veteran of this event and a work ethic that would make Trump proud to keep going after shots when the weather isn’t perfect, so thanks to Kimmy for leading the way early on.” Excerpt from Snowboarder Magazine.
